My "break through" moment in my career was when I had some one on one time with God and asked him about my passion I had for natural hair. I knew that he knew already but I needed to know which direction to go. I wanted it not to be a hinderance but a blessing in my life. I began to have dreams, visions, and goals for what I wanted to see happen in that area of my life. Soon after, I entered a Bill Board Contest for Dark N Lovely and I won. I knew right then that I had the ability and chance to become a well known Blogger/Naturalista, educating women all over the world about loving, maintaing, and embracing one's natural beauty. I took my hobby of Vlogging about natural hair to a passion of being an Ambassador for many of the top brands such as Carols Daughter and Aunt Jackies. I am thrilled to even be a part of Miss Jessie's Campaign because when I "Big Chop", the only product that I heard of at that time was Miss Jessie's. In fact, that was the first product that was used on my hair and from that moment on, I have been one of their biggest fans. To know your purpose in life, you must first know who you are in Christ. Many times, I knew what I wanted to do and become, but sometimes you are placed around people who may not believe in your dream. It's only when you know and believe in yourself that one day, someone will be touch by what you do or what you say. I am now traveling to different cities and states empowering women, educating women, and inspiring women all over the world about embracing their natural beauty. It has all and still is a blessing to me. To know that I can help someone, is a great deal to me. That "Aha Moment" is now reality all because I know that I have a purpose. I may not have everything right now, but I know that as long as I strive, everything else will soon fall into place. That is a part of growing. To see that Miko and TiTi Branch started their business from scratch, is so motivating to me. God has blessed their business abundantly. Even though Miko is in a challenging state of the passing of her Sister, TiTi Branch, God will still get the Glory. Their book is so amazing and I believe that it is going to empower women all over the world just as their business has. I will continue to pray for Miko and the team of Miss Jessie's. The Best Is Yet To Come!

Are you ready to learn how to achieve some Gawjus Holiday Curls? Well you need to tune in on December 3rd at 7pm EST because myself along with two other fab ladies will be sharing tips, styles, and answering questions that you may have. We are taking over Design Essentials Twitter feed and we are ready to hear from you! Don't forget to Tell a friend! #curlsinaflash I'm loving Blue Ivy's natural hair. Her curls are super defined! What kind of products do you think Beyonce is using on her hair? Could Blue start her own natural hair product line? This would be absolutely amazing! How many if you would buy your daughter Beyonce's natural hair line? I think it could be a start of something new! You've heard so much about Blue Ivy's hair and a lot of the comments were a bit to much. Every strand of hair does not have to be in place in order for you to rock your natural hair fab. What makes your hair fab is it's uniqueness, your boldness, and your confidence. I love how Blue Ivy's hair is free, full of defined curls. To add, her mommy also styled up her look with a leather jacket to make it all look fierce. What are your thoughts? Chime in but be respectful, she's a baby. 😀 Are you comfortable with your natural hair? We have all been there at least once or twice throughout our natural hair journey. Sometimes we hide behind a picture. A picture can mean a thousand of things. You may post and share your cutest style and yet feel frustrated with your natural hair. Yes, it can happen and yes it is normal. I came to realize that when you are comfortable with your hair, you tend to style it according to how you feel and not how others may view you. Explain you say? Sure. When a person post a picture, every strand of hair has to look perfect. One may get upset because their bantu knot, twist out, braid out, or wash n go' did not turn out right. When you are comfortable, you can create another style if one did not turn out right and feel confident while doing so. As for me, I can stretch my hair out and rock a fro. That is a lot compared to me wanting my curls to be so defined and neat. I was not really into big hair but now, I love to be unique and fierce. It makes my journey even more exciting. You have to love who you are and love whatever stage you are in, rather it's a transitioning stage, TWA, mid length hair, or long hair stage. Once you gain your confidence, you tend to do bold things with the acceptance of others. Here are some signs for you to check to see if you are comfortable with your hair or not. If you have found yourself in one of these examples, you are not comfortable with your hair.
1. Do you compare your hair to other people's hair? (not comfortable) 2. Are you frustrated with your hair? 3. Do you have patience with your hair? 4. Are you afraid to try new things with your hair like coloring, wearing it big, etc..? 5. Do you hide your natural hair on certain occasions? (job interviews, church, weddings, dating) 6. Do you hide your hair under protective styles because you do not want to deal with it? (wigs, hair extensions) I met the Gawjus Cynthia Bailey in NYC at the Fabulous Family Dollar Event! We took a couple of selfies to end our day! This event was absolutely amazing!
It's that time again for some nice cool weather. Have you started thinking about how to protect your hair? well, you should. It's time to moisturize, do more protective styles, and make sure you are doing your hair routines such as deep conditioning, trimming, co-washing, and applying more product to your hair especially your ends. You can still style your natural hair but you have to give it attention just like you did for those hot days we had this summer. now, have you started taking your fall photos? if so, let me know. you could be featured on my blog! email photos to [email protected]. |
