Are you comfortable with your natural hair? We have all been there at least once or twice throughout our natural hair journey. Sometimes we hide behind a picture. A picture can mean a thousand of things. You may post and share your cutest style and yet feel frustrated with your natural hair. Yes, it can happen and yes it is normal. I came to realize that when you are comfortable with your hair, you tend to style it according to how you feel and not how others may view you. Explain you say? Sure. When a person post a picture, every strand of hair has to look perfect. One may get upset because their bantu knot, twist out, braid out, or wash n go' did not turn out right. When you are comfortable, you can create another style if one did not turn out right and feel confident while doing so. As for me, I can stretch my hair out and rock a fro. That is a lot compared to me wanting my curls to be so defined and neat. I was not really into big hair but now, I love to be unique and fierce. It makes my journey even more exciting. You have to love who you are and love whatever stage you are in, rather it's a transitioning stage, TWA, mid length hair, or long hair stage. Once you gain your confidence, you tend to do bold things with the acceptance of others. Here are some signs for you to check to see if you are comfortable with your hair or not. If you have found yourself in one of these examples, you are not comfortable with your hair.
1. Do you compare your hair to other people's hair? (not comfortable)
2. Are you frustrated with your hair?
3. Do you have patience with your hair?
4. Are you afraid to try new things with your hair like coloring, wearing it big, etc..?
5. Do you hide your natural hair on certain occasions? (job interviews, church, weddings, dating)
6. Do you hide your hair under protective styles because you do not want to deal with it? (wigs, hair extensions)
